August 12, 2009 Wednesday 3:10 p.m. THOUGHTS

Thought for the day

INFORMATION, INFORMATION, INFORMATION.....We live in an information age. We must have information in a split second...faster than a split second...faster, faster, faster. We have to be informed! STOP!!! Sometimes, I would rather not be informed. Have you ever heard the phrase, "too much information" when someone is blabbing on and on. How about, too much information can be a bad thing..when someone said something they shouldn't.

It seems Sen. Chuck Schumer...titled it right. The chattering classes are indeed chattering. The very idea I'm on here blogging is do to the information technologies. I wonder with all the chattering and typing, if anything of lasting value comes from this.
I stepped out into the fresh air, sunshine, and blue skies with a gentle breeze blowing a few minutes ago. I thought to myself this has value and a lasting impact. This scene and experience carries a punch. This is what the soul longs for and is refreshed by.

There is the artificial world we have created for ourselves, and then there is the real stuff. Warning: Too much of a good thing can be bad for your health I prefer a small dose of information...so I don't overdose. Let's have more of the real stuff..bring it on.

Lies

I've been thinking about lies. How we live in a culture of lies. There are whole industries built around lies. Lies, deceit, gossip, slander, plunder the landscape and worst of all it pays and is rewarded.

I'm upset today, because another newsmaker fell today. The coach of the University of Louisville Basketball program admitted to having an affair with a woman while drunk and paying for her abortion when she got pregnant. It gets worse..both married at the time with families. This was the equipment managers wife who worked with Pitino. He denied the allegations for months when the woman sued him and now confessed yesterday. Lately, this horror keeps repeating itself. None of us are immune from this...but we have to be aware of our own weaknesses and propensities.

I am committed to truth and desire to be a truth teller. It is a conviction and practice. Have I ever lied? Yes. Have I ever profitted from a lie? Yes. Repentance is a great lie cleanser, and humiliation is even better.

Commitment to the truth and practicing truth telling is good medicine for the soul. I like waking up in the mornings and knowing who is looking back. I desire with all my heart to be a truth teller.

I want to have an accurate estimation of myself and not a lie of who I think I am. I don't want to be guilty of deluding myself and others. There is enough illusion and delusion in the world.

My thought for the day.

I  heard today that Dr. Rand Paul will be running for the Republican  Senate seat from Kentucky.  This seat will be vacated since Jim Bunning our current (R) Senator will not be running.  Rand Paul is the son of Ron Paul, the former Presidential candidate in the 2008 election.  I look forward to hearing what he has to say.

If you are like me,  You don't care about the Republican or Democratic brand of politics.  I believe most people want good governance and people who put the nation first.  Americans are weary of professional politicians, interest groups, lobbyists, etc.  It goes against the ideals of our nation.
I believe in TERM LIMITS for all elected officials;  then they should return home to their respective careers and get to work.  It is an honor to be elected, not an entitlement.

Let me hear from you regarding term limits.  What do you think?

Introductory Post

This blog is being offered up with the intention to  provide edification and encouragement. We live in a great country, but it is only as great as people decide it will be. We have to stop spinning our wheels and get back to seeking out the truth, nobility, and justice.

I will challenge myself to be thoughtful, respectful and insightful. One who strives to be a  problem solver instead of a problem maker.  So this is dedicated to the stewards, the producers, the thinkers- people who are trying to make a difference.

You are most kindly welcomed- if you are one who sees the ironies and absurdities of life; if you are one who knows there is a purpose and reason in life; or if you are a seeker of the above.

If you like good conversation, discussing timely and pertinent topics...by all means, join the conversation!
